Highballer is a live music bar on Market Place in Stockport Old Town, two minutes from the Underbanks and about the same from the market. We opened as a pop-up, stayed, and spent the time since turning the place into somewhere that actually gives you a reason to come out.
What we do that nobody else in Stockport does is put the audience in the show. Bottomless Bandeoke on a Friday is karaoke with a live band behind you — no backing track, no hiding. Duelling Pianos Bottomless Brunch on a Saturday is two pianists taking requests from the room and arguing about who plays them better. Both come with ninety minutes of unlimited cocktails, beer and prosecco, and both are ticketed because both fill up.
The rest of the week we are a bar. A proper cocktail list built around the highball — the Vimto Mojito is the one people come back for — beer from Manchester's Runaway Brewery, Guinness on tap, and free pool and darts on Thursdays and Sundays. Happy hour is all day Thursday and Sunday, and 4–8pm on Friday.

Karaoke with a live band behind you instead of a backing track. You pick the song, the band plays it, and the room sings the rest. Highballer is the only place in Stockport doing it. Fridays, 8–9.30pm, with Rock & Roll Bingo through the night.
What are duelling pianos?
Two pianists sat facing each other, taking requests from the room and trying to outplay one another. There is no set list — the audience writes it as it goes. It is the first duelling pianos brunch Stockport has had.

Do you need to book, or can you just turn up?
The bottomless events are ticketed and need booking — they are capped and they do sell out. Everything else is walk-in: the bar, the cocktails, the live cover band on Saturdays, and the free pool and darts.
